Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday dear ombre cake,
Happy Birthday to you!
Okay, so it was my sister's birthday and not the ombre cake.
I've been wanting to try to make an ombre cake for
a while, and with my sister's birthday recently, I finally did it!
So I completely cheated and used a box cake mix,
but don't worry because I added in my own
specialties to make it taste extremely moist and homemade.
Take a peak and look below to see how you can easily make
your very own pretty ombre cake!
Happy Birthday Little Sister!
Start with the mix.
(I made a double batch to get more height)
Divide evenly into 4 different bowls.
Add food coloring as desired.
(I bought the McCormick Neon food coloring
& followed the directions on the back
to get the perfect teal color I was looking for).
Bake cakes as directed on box (or your own recipe).
Let cool completely (I'm serious, like for hours).
Stack & Frost! (the best part)
I made my own cream cheese frosting for this cake.
Oh so pretty.
Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe:
4 cups powdered (confectioners) sugar
1 block cream cheese
1 stick of butter, melted
2 tsp vanilla
Mix butter and cream cheese until smooth.
Add in sugar & vanilla. Mix until smooth.
(I made a double batch for this cake).
