Updating the Jewelry

Lighting makes a world of a difference in a home.  I've heard before that faucets are the jewelry of a home.  If that's the case then faucets are small diamonds compared to the big diamond, light fixtures.  Maybe I'm biased because we've changed out so many light fixtures since moving in 19 months ago (19 months?! OMG).  Light fixtures are also a super easy way to update an older home.  Just ask my husband.. he's changed every single room so far since we've moved in except one.  Three ceiling fans, a hallway light, kitchen/dining room, and counting!

I don't even know what era our lighting came from it was so ugly.  Oddly enough, our kitchen and dining room won the gold (yes, watching olympics 24/7 over here) for most ugly, yet they were the last of the fixtures to update.  We wanted to wait until we for sure knew which direction we were headed with the kitchen renovation we are about to start.

We've both been swooning over this iron bronze pendant from Lowe's literally for the past 19 months. I have zero patience when it comes to buying something I love.  Looking back, I can't believe we waited this long.  Now that the light is in, it was so worth the wait!

Lowe's by far has the coolest and most unique selection of lighting that matches our style in comparison to the other home improvement stores.  Their prices are always on the higher end, but when the dining room light is the focal point upon walking into your home - it's worth it!

Out with the old.  In with the new.

I don't think I've ever been more in love with a light before.  It isn't as bright as the old one, as there is one less bulb.  And it casts more shadows on the wall - but we love it!  It matches all the rest of the lights now in the house, and was just the focal point we wanted.

Below is our kitchen light before & after.  I cropped out the kitchen below since we are in the middle of organizing the cabinets before starting the renovation.  Our kitchen looks 100X better already with this new light. The light was a steal of a deal at Menard's - and was just what we were looking for.

Six down, one to go! The glass pendant we are installing above our kitchen sink will be the last of the lighting updates!  And as of today, I'm officially an old lady due to my unnecessary excitement over this new light.
